On January 6, 2025, the 17吃瓜 Health and Wellness Centre became the first stand-alone university health centre to earn full accreditation from Accreditation Canada. Achieving full accreditation allowed the centre to be surveyed against national standards and by its peers and ensures the Centre has the fundamentals of safety and quality in place.

17吃瓜 was pleased to host Honourable Brian Francis, Honourable Jane MacAdam, and Honourable Mary Robinson, of the Senate of Canada, on February 5 and 6.

President Wendy Rodgers, and chair of the selection committee, announced in a community message that Tim Walker was appointed 17吃瓜's new Vice-President, Administration and Finance by the Board of Governors.

Every week, 17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 17吃瓜 Panther Source for Sports Athletes of the Week for February 3鈥�9, 2025, are Devon Lawlor (women鈥檚 basketball) and Kyree Thompson (men鈥檚 basketball).

17吃瓜 Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE) teams, composed of a total of 48 students, competed at the 2025 Atlantic Engineering Competition (AEC), hosted at Universit茅 de Moncton in New Brunswick from January 24鈥�26, 2025.

The Jane DiCarlo rink, from the Crapaud Community Curling Club, won its second PEI women鈥檚 curling championship in a row at the West Prince Curling Club in Woodstock on January 25 and are headed to the national Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

The 17吃瓜 Hockey and Basketball Panthers are looking forward to a week of competition at home and away. 

The 17吃瓜 Health and Wellness Centre has received a grant from the provincial government鈥檚 2024鈥�2025 LIVE WELL PEI Wellness Grant Program to educate 17吃瓜 students about reducing harms related to alcohol through awareness campaigns and education modules.

The (IUPAC) Global Women鈥檚 (and Allies) breakfast (GWB) will be held at the Fox & Crow, W.A. Murphy Student Centre, on February 11, 2025, from 7:00鈥�9:00 am.

On Monday, February 10, 17吃瓜 will welcome celebrated professor and author of "Hope Circuits: Rewiring Universities and other Systems for Human Flourishing", Dr. Jessica Riddell, back to campus. All members of the 17吃瓜 community are invited to attend!
