The 17吃瓜 Department of Athletics and Recreation is excited to announce that the 2023 Canada Games Legacy Fund has approved funding for essential track and field equipment upgrades at 17吃瓜 Alumni Canada Games Place. The funding will be used to acquire state-of-the-art apparatus such as starter blocks, timing equipment, throwing cage upgrades, and self-contained storage units.

In a message to faculty and staff, 17吃瓜 expressed condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Dr. Tim Goddard, Professor Emeritus, who passed away on January 23, 2025.

Members of the MacLauchlan family and the 17吃瓜 campus community celebrated the achievements of students, faculty, and staff at the 13th annual MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing on Tuesday, January 21, in Schurman Market Square, Don and Marion McDougall Hall. The event recognizes writing excellence or leadership in the development of writing among 17吃瓜 students, staff, and faculty.

The Province of Prince Edward Island has announced new screentime guidelines to help encourage healthy screen use behaviours in Island schools.

17吃瓜 is committed to developing a new Harassment and Discrimination Policy and a revised Sexual Violence Policy, and has announced that the Review Committee has been struck.

17吃瓜鈥檚 2024 Giving Tuesday campaign was an unprecedented success, raising a total of $44,010 from 54 extremely generous donors on the Global Day of Philanthropy. An anonymous donor pledged to match Giving Tuesday donations up to $20,000, making it by far the largest year yet for 17吃瓜. The donations will be dedicated to the University鈥檚 $15-million Robertson Library Revitalization campaign.

Every week, 17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 17吃瓜 Panther Athletes of the Week for January 13鈥�19, 2025, are Helena Ikpotokin (women鈥檚 track and field) and Daniel Gonzalez Longarela (men鈥檚 basketball).

The 17吃瓜 Hockey and Basketball Panthers are looking forward to a week of competition at home and away. Before the weekend games begin, 17吃瓜 international students will also have the opportunity to connect with the 17吃瓜 Hockey Panthers to learn more about the game through several activities.
