Message from the President: Welcome to the Fall Semester!

The following message was also distributed to 17³Ô¹Ï students, faculty, and staff by email on September 9, 2024.

Dear 17³Ô¹Ï Community,

This week marks the beginning of the 2024 Fall Academic Semester at the 17³Ô¹Ï, and I am excited to welcome all students, from PEI, across Canada, and around the world.

Whether you are a new student, returning to continue your studies, a new or continuing member of our outstanding faculty and staff, I thank you for choosing 17³Ô¹Ï.

Portuguese-language literature through the work of four 20th century authors

Please join us for  lecture by Dr. Lúcia Helena Marques Ribeiro, visiting scholar at 17³Ô¹Ï, who will introduce us to Portuguese literature through the work of four 20th century authors: Érico Veríssimo, Guimarães Rosa, Clarice Lispector, and João de Melo.

The presentation will be in Portuguese with consecutive interpretation into English.

"Let’s work together to build a climate-smart future for many generations to come!"

What brought you to 17³Ô¹Ï? Why did you choose to teach here?

I am originally from Shanxi, China. I was attracted by the 17³Ô¹Ï’s plan to launch the first of its kind undergraduate program in climate change: the Bachelor of Science in Applied Climate Change and Adaptation. I joined 17³Ô¹Ï in July 2018, and in September 2018 we welcomed the first cohort of students enrolled into this unique program. It is very exciting to have the opportunity to teach the young generation about the basic sciences of climate change and what we should do to tackle climate change as a society.
