AVC presents 2022 Green Hat Award to philanthropist Roger Warren
The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 17吃瓜 recently awarded Mr. Roger Warren with the 2022 Honourable Eugene F. Whelan Green Hat Award.
The award was presented during AVC鈥檚 annual Donor and Client Appreciation Night on Tuesday, November 29 to a crowd of over 100 attendees. Named in honour of the late Honourable Eugene F. Whelan, it is the highest honour given out by the College.

The PEI 2023 Canada Winter Games Host Society formally announced the 17吃瓜 as a Bridge Builder partner at a sponsorship announcement on November 24. Island Coastal Services Ltd. and Irving Oil were also announced as sponsors of the national multi-sport event that will take place in February.

Against the backdrop of St. Peter鈥檚 Bay, the Honourable Bill Blair, President of the King鈥檚 Privy Council for Canada and Minister of Emergency Preparedness; the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency; and the Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Veterans Affairs, Associate Minister of Defence, and MP for Cardigan launched the National Adaptation Strategy at 17吃瓜鈥檚 Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation on November 24.

7:00 pm: The 17吃瓜 Men鈥檚 Hockey Panthers (11-4-1) are in Rink A at MacLauchlan Arena against Universit茅 de Moncton Aigles Bleus (10-6-0). The two teams each have a win against one another with Moncton holding the 5-4 scoring edge.
Bren Simmers first PEI resident to win CBC Poetry Prize
Congratulations to Bren Simmers, managing editor of Island Studies Press at 17吃瓜, on winning the 2022 CBC Poetry Contest for her collection of poems, Spell World Backwards. She is the first person from Prince Edward Island to win the prestigious prize.
鈥淚 am incredulous and so grateful!鈥� said Simmers. 鈥淚鈥檝e always wanted to win the CBC Poetry Prize but never thought it would happen. I know my mom would be proud too.鈥�

Can you tell us about your path to the Atlantic Veterinary College鈥檚 (AVC) Wildlife Service?
I have always been fascinated by wildlife and volunteered with seal rehabilitation at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) before I started working as a wildlife necropsy technician with the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative in 2007. After volunteering at the AVC and other wildlife service centres across Canada, I started working at the AVC Wildlife Service in 2015.
17吃瓜 Choral Ensembles Recital
On Friday December 9, the 17吃瓜 Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Womens鈥� Vocal Ensemble, and Music Alumni, under the musical direction of Sung Ha Shin-Bouey and assisted by pianist Leo Marchildon, will present an eclectic mix of choral music and Christmas repertoire. Included in the program are Handel鈥檚 鈥淭he King Shall Rejoice,鈥� 鈥淐andlelight Carol鈥� by John Rutter, Gjeilo鈥檚 鈥淥 Magnum Mysterium鈥� for mixed chorus and cello solo, featuring Natalie Williams Calhoun, among many other choral gems.
Tickets will be available for purchase with cash at the door of the event.
