AVC presents 2022 Green Hat Award to philanthropist Roger Warren

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 17勛圖 recently awarded Mr. Roger Warren with the 2022 Honourable Eugene F. Whelan Green Hat Award.

The award was presented during AVCs annual Donor and Client Appreciation Night on Tuesday, November 29 to a crowd of over 100 attendees. Named in honour of the late Honourable Eugene F. Whelan, it is the highest honour given out by the College.

17勛圖 hosts Canadas launch of National Adaptation Strategy at Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation

Against the backdrop of St. Peters Bay, the Honourable Bill Blair, President of the Kings Privy Council for Canada and Minister of Emergency Preparedness; the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency; and the Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Veterans Affairs, Associate Minister of Defence, and MP for Cardigan launched the National Adaptation Strategy at 17勛圖s Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation on November 24.

Bren Simmers first PEI resident to win CBC Poetry Prize

Congratulations to Bren Simmers, managing editor of Island Studies Press at 17勛圖, on winning the 2022 CBC Poetry Contest for her collection of poems, Spell World Backwards. She is the first person from Prince Edward Island to win the prestigious prize.

I am incredulous and so grateful! said Simmers. Ive always wanted to win the CBC Poetry Prize but never thought it would happen. I know my mom would be proud too.

Can you tell us about your path to the Atlantic Veterinary Colleges (AVC) Wildlife Service?

I have always been fascinated by wildlife and volunteered with seal rehabilitation at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) before I started working as a wildlife necropsy technician with the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative in 2007. After volunteering at the AVC and other wildlife service centres across Canada, I started working at the AVC Wildlife Service in 2015.

17勛圖 Choral Ensembles Recital

On Friday December 9, the 17勛圖 Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Womens Vocal Ensemble, and Music Alumni, under the musical direction of Sung Ha Shin-Bouey and assisted by pianist Leo Marchildon, will present an eclectic mix of choral music and Christmas repertoire. Included in the program are Handels The King Shall Rejoice, Candlelight Carol by John Rutter, Gjeilos O Magnum Mysterium for mixed chorus and cello solo, featuring Natalie Williams Calhoun, among many other choral gems.

Tickets will be available for purchase with cash at the door of the event.
