17³Ô¹Ï to hold first annual flag raising to observe the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 

Dr. Greg Keefe, 17³Ô¹Ï’s interim president and vice-chancellor, and 17³Ô¹Ï student Antwaun Rolle invite members of the campus community to the first annual raising of the Flag of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at 17³Ô¹Ï in observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3. The flag raising will take place on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 12:00 pm (noon) at the flag plaza near Kelley Memorial Building.

The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce is conveniently located on the second floor of the Confederation Court Mall, in the corner near the bubble tea shop. The door is right next to the elevators.

Afternoon of Service with the Mount: Decorate gingerbread houses!

Join us for a fun-filled afternoon at The Mount! Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, this event is open to everyone who loves getting their hands sticky with icing and colourful candies.

The Mount is a resident-care facility where residents live and are supported in their daily lives. Many of the residents are seniors. As part of living at the Mount, residents can participate in a variety of fun events and activities, such as this one where they will design and decorate gingerbread masterpieces.

Slide design workshop

This is a 45-minute drop-in session where we will look at some basic slide design principles and then spend time redesigning one of your own slide decks.  

What to bring: A set of slides and a device to work on

Schedule:  

  • 10-minute presentation on slide design 

  • 30 minutes to work individually on your own slides; the host is present for questions 

  • 5 minutes to reflect on how it went and ask more questions 

17³Ô¹Ï Panthers This Week (November 27–December 3)

The 17³Ô¹Ï Men’s Hockey and the 17³Ô¹Ï Track and Field teams are on the road during the week of November 27–December 3.

7:00 pm: 17³Ô¹Ï Men’s Hockey (6-10) takes on the Saint Mary’s Huskies (8-8) in Halifax. The Panthers look for their first win against the Huskies this season.

Saturday, December 2
AT HOME:

7:00 pm: 17³Ô¹Ï Men’s Hockey plays the Acadia Axemen in the MacLauchlan Arena. Fans are asked to bring non-perishable food items for the 17³Ô¹Ï Campus Food Bank.

17³Ô¹Ï celebrates 12th annual MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing

17³Ô¹Ï celebrated the 12th annual MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing on Friday, November 17. The awards were presented to recipients, acknowledging their effective writing skills, which are the foundation of academic success and lifelong learning.

The awards, presented to 36 students and one faculty member this year, were established in 2011 by the MacLauchlan family to honour H. Wade MacLauchlan's contributions to the University and his 12 years of service as 17³Ô¹Ï president and vice-chancellor from 1999–2011.
