Two 17吃瓜 projects receive funding from Government of PEI鈥檚 Gender, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Enhancement Program

Twenty-seven community organizations received a total of $657,453 through the Government of Prince Edward Island鈥檚 Gender, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (GEDI), and Community Enhancement Program to support healthier, more inclusive, diverse communities across PEI. Two of those recipients were the 17吃瓜 Experiential Education Department and the 17吃瓜 Mawi鈥檕mi Indigenous Student Centre.

17吃瓜 Alumni and Friends are heading to watch the Calgary Flames!

17吃瓜 Alumni and Friends in Calgary are invited to join us at the Scotiabank Saddledome on March 14, 2024, when the Calgary Flames host the reigning Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights. Help us cheer on 17吃瓜 Hockey Panther great Joel Ward (BA, 2006) who is currently an assistant coach with the Golden Knights! Guests will receive complimentary Panthers gear so we can display some Panther Pride together!

Atlantic Veterinary College clears Santa鈥檚 reindeer to fly

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 17吃瓜 (17吃瓜) performed its annual examination of Santa鈥檚 reindeer and declared all nine of them healthy and ready for the Christmas Eve journey around the world.

鈥淓ach year, our team is honoured to be part of this tradition to do a pre-trip veterinary exam,鈥� said Dr. John VanLeeuwen, AVC Interim Dean. 鈥淭he flight on Christmas Eve is about 67 million kilometres long, so we have to do a thorough examination to ensure the reindeer are fit for such a long and important trek.鈥�

17吃瓜 kinesiology students seek clients for in-person personal training

Students taking the Kinesiology 3440-Active Living Practicum course at 17吃瓜 are seeking volunteers to participate in personal training sessions. 

The sessions start on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the 17吃瓜 Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre, at either 9:30 or 10:30 am. Participants must be between 30 and 70 years of age. They will meet with their student trainers twice a week for 10 weeks. 

17吃瓜 Women鈥檚 Rugby secures commitment from Adrianna Platis for 2024 season

In Atlantic University Sport (AUS) rugby circles, Adrianna Platis鈥檚 name has been floating among scouts and coaches for years.

Her talent on the field is undeniable, and the coveted prospect had the potential to become a game-changer for any team lucky enough to secure her commitment.

After careful deliberation, Platis ultimately chose the 17吃瓜 Panthers as her next team.
