New dean of nursing appointed at 17吃瓜
In a recent message to the campus community, Dr. Greg Naterer, 17吃瓜 Vice-President Academic and Research announced that Dr. Christina Murray, associate professor of nursing, has been appointed dean of the 17吃瓜 Faculty of Nursing for a five-year term effective March 1, 2023.

Sarah Forsythe and Elijah Miller named 17吃瓜 Panther Subway Athletes of the Week
Every week, 17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 17吃瓜 Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for February 13鈥�20 are Sarah Forsythe (women鈥檚 hockey) and Elijah Miller (men鈥檚 basketball).
Forsythe, a science student from Riverview, New Brunswick, was phenomenal in the quarter-final series against the Dalhousie University Tigers. The sophomore netminder allowed four goals in Game 2 but recorded shutouts in Game 1 and Game 3.
17吃瓜 president provides update on first intake date for the 17吃瓜 Faculty of Medicine
In a message to the University community and 17吃瓜 Faculty of Medicine stakeholders, Dr. Greg Keefe, interim president and vice-chancellor of the 17吃瓜 provided an update on the development of the joint medical degree program with Memorial University of Newfoundland. President Keefe announced that the first intake of students has been delayed until August 2025.

What brought you to 17吃瓜? Why did you choose to study here?
I鈥檓 from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and I chose to study at 17吃瓜 because I liked the idea of smaller class sizes to be able to have closer contact with my professors and classmates. Also, being an Islander, the funding opportunities for Island students gave me the chance to study debt free.

Every week, 17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 17吃瓜 Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for February 6鈥�12 are Sydney Cummins (women鈥檚 basketball) and Kamari Scott (men鈥檚 basketball).
Cummins, a science student from Wolfville, Nova Scotia, played two great games against Cape Breton University. The second-year guard recorded a double-double, averaging 11.5 points and 10.0 rebounds on 53.3 per cent shooting with 2.5 assists and 3.0 steals, as the Panthers split the weekend series.

The Bookmark and the 17吃瓜 Faculty of Arts and English department will host a celebration of author J.J. Steinfeld鈥檚 literary achievements and contributions to the culture of PEI, Canada, and beyond on Thursday, March 9, at 7:00 pm. The celebration will take place in The Carriage House at Beaconsfield, 2 Kent Street, Charlottetown.
