CBCs 2023 Black Changemakers for PEI include 17勛圖 community members

Earlier this monthBlack History Monththe Canadian Broadcasting Company named five people 2023 Black Changemakers for Prince Edward Island. Four of the five have connections to the 17勛圖 community.

Black Changemakers is a CBC editorial series recognizing individuals in Atlantic Canada who are creating positive change, inspiring others, and helping shape our future. Each year, the series highlights 20 people in Atlantic Canada, five from each province.

17勛圖 Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering holds inaugural Industry and Career Day

Students in the 17勛圖 Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE) got the chance to meet with potential employers at the facultys inaugural Industry and Career Day held on February 2. 

The event was hosted by the FSDE Industry Partnership Group (IPG), the Engineering Student Success Centre, and the Student Engineering Society, and emceed by Wayne Simmons, business development engineer with the IPG.

17勛圖 Faculty of Nursing celebrates first year students during inaugural Scrub Coat Ceremony

The 17勛圖 Faculty of Nursing in collaboration with the PEI Department of Health and Wellness held its inaugural Scrub Coat Ceremony on February 9, 2023, at the 17勛圖 Performing Arts Centre in the Universitys new residence building. The ceremony was a celebration and welcoming of 71 first-year undergraduate nursing students and 15 first-year accelerated nursing students.

17勛圖 physics student wins award at Atlantic Universities Physics and Astronomy Conference

17勛圖 physics student Liam MacNevin received a first-place Tindall/Steinitz Award in Research during the 2023 Atlantic Universities Physics and Astronomy Conference (AUPAC). The conference was hosted by Saint Marys University in Halifax, Nova Scotia from February 35.

MacNevin received the award for his research entitled Force-Distance Relationship of Stretched Polycatenane Structures. His research was carried out under the supervision of 17勛圖 physics professor James Polson when MacNevin worked as a research assistant during the summer of 2022. 

POSTPONED TO APRIL 25: Island Lecture Series withDr. Iren矇 Novaczek

Join us for an Island Lecture Series presentation by marine ecologist Dr. Iren矇 Novaczek on the ecosystem restoration project at Basin Head. Basin Head was designated as a "Marine Protected Area" under the Oceans Act in 2005, to conserve and protect a unique strain of Irish moss (Chondrus crispus) which is thought to exist only within the confines of Basin Head.
