17吃瓜 kinesiology students seeking participants for exercise training program

Students in 17吃瓜鈥檚 Kinesiology 3440 class are seeking participants who are willing to take part in an exercise program two days per week for 12 weeks.

The program is directed towards individuals who are looking to become more physically active in their day-to-day lives. It will take place in the 17吃瓜 Fitness Centre, Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre, from 9:30 to 11:30 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning the week of January 13. The cost is $70+HST for the full semester.

Community 鈥淨uilt鈥� for Gender-Based Violence Prevention

From November 25 until December 10, Canada observes 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. This international campaign raises awareness of gender-based violence and calls us to take action to make our communities safer for everyone. 

This year, the Student Union Mental Health team and the Sexual Violence Prevention & Response Office (SVPRO) invite everyone to join us on November 27, from 12:00 - 3:00 pm at McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre, as we make a community 鈥渜uilt鈥� for gender-based violence prevention. 

17吃瓜 Self-Care Fair for students, staff and faculty

The 17吃瓜 Healthy Campus Committee invites all students, staff, and faculty to come out to the 17吃瓜 Self-Care Fair on Wednesday, November 20, between 10:00 am鈥�2:00 pm in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre.

There will be FREE food, prizes, and a variety of health and wellness booths! Spin the wheel for a chance to win prizes! 

Donations of non-perishable food will also be accepted in support of the 17吃瓜 Campus Food Bank. 

Ashley McCutcheon and Kyree Thompson named 17吃瓜 Panther Athletes of the Week

Every week, 17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 17吃瓜 Panther Athletes of the Week for November 11鈥�17, 2024, are Ashley McCutcheon (women鈥檚 hockey) and Kyree Thompson (men鈥檚 basketball).

McCutcheon, a fourth-year business student from Kitchener, Ontario, came through in the clutch for the Panthers, netting a crucial late-game goal on November 15 against a tough St. Francis Xavier University squad to force overtime and secure a valuable point for the team.

17吃瓜 Department of Music Showcase Recital

The 17吃瓜 Department of Music Showcase Recital celebrates the solo and collaborative work of advanced instrumental and voice majors taking applied courses in performance. These young artists will perform classic works of the 18th and 19th centuries by composers such as Mozart and Chopin as well as contemporary works by emerging North American composers including Nova Scotia's Hope Salmonson. 

Please note the start time of 7:00 pm.

Accessible parking is available, and accessible entry to the Recital Hall is available via elevator.
