Despite a safe fall semester, due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in the region and the arrival of the highly transmissible Omicron variant to PEI, 17³Ô¹Ï is making some important health and safety changes as we near the holiday break and approach the 2022 Winter Academic Semester.

On August 31, 17³Ô¹Ï updated its process for the 17³Ô¹Ï Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy and issued a message to students, faculty, and staff.

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Over the past year and a half, we have worked together to overcome tremendous challenges during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. While 17³Ô¹Ï has done very well to return to a more in-person educational delivery mode for the fall semester, it has become very apparent that we need to take further measures in order to ensure that our campus continues to be as safe as possible for all members of our community.

For Dr. Karem Simon and Dr. Greg Doran, this day has been a long time coming.

17³Ô¹Ï’s new residence building, now under construction, will be home to a new performing arts venue, including a 400-seat theatre. The University is launching a campaign to raise $3 million to enhance and deliver outstanding programming and state-of-the-art equipment for that venue, as well as renovate the beloved and historic Dr. Steel Recital Hall.

A project to develop an early warning system for identifying complex gill disease on salmon farms, led by Dr. Mark Fast, professor of fish health and immunology, Atlantic Veterinary College at 17³Ô¹Ï, has received $4.7 million in funding through Genome Canada’s Genomic Applications Partnership Program (GAPP).

The 17³Ô¹Ï wishes to update students, faculty, and staff following today’s announcement by the PEI Chief Public Health Office (PEI-CPHO).

With this weekend’s announcements by the PEI Chief Public Health Office (PEI-CPHO) to introduce circuit breaker restrictions and move to a modified red alert level for a period of 72 hours, 17³Ô¹Ï will implement several measures and close the campus, effective immediately.
