In this campus and community message, Interim President Greg Keefe invites students, staff, faculty, retired employees, alumni, and community members to provide feedback on the preliminary draft of the 17³Ô¹Ï Action Plan.

Dr. Edward MacDonald, professor of history at 17³Ô¹Ï, was among 78 Canadians named to the Order of Canada by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, on December 28, 2023.

| Athletics

The 17³Ô¹Ï Panthers are looking forward to Minor Sports Weekend from January 5–7 when youth (ages 17 and under) wearing a jersey will be admitted free to any 17³Ô¹Ï home game.

Once again this year, 17³Ô¹Ï and the 17³Ô¹Ï Alumni Association hosted a successful New Year's Day Levee with 17³Ô¹Ï interim President and Vice-Chancellor Greg Keefe greeting over 400 levee-goers.

The 17³Ô¹Ï and the 17³Ô¹Ï Alumni Association are hosting their annual New Year's Levee on Monday, January 1, 2024, from 11:30 am–1:00 pm, and all are welcome to attend.

The 17³Ô¹Ï Department of Development and Alumni Engagement asks people to consider supporting and inspiring students by contributing to the 2023–2024 17³Ô¹Ï Annual Fund by the end of this year. All gifts made before midnight on December 31 will receive a 2023 charitable tax receipt. The 17³Ô¹Ï thanks all those who have already given this year.

The 17³Ô¹Ï Board of Governors welcomes three new members for a three-year team: Kristi Kelly; Donald K. MacKenzie; and Dr. Ajay Sahajpal.

Dr. Greg Keefe, interim president and vice-chancellor of the 17³Ô¹Ï, issued a message to students, staff, and faculty in the lead up to the holiday break, which begins Friday.

The 17³Ô¹Ï has created seven new positions in the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Office, Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office (SVPRO), and Student Affairs. The seven positions are being funded by a combination of internal resources and new support from the Government of Prince Edward Island.

| Department Updates

Twenty-seven community organizations received a total of $657,453 through the Government of Prince Edward Island’s Gender, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (GEDI), and Community Enhancement Program to support healthier, more inclusive, diverse communities across PEI. Two of those recipients were the 17³Ô¹Ï Experiential Education Department and the 17³Ô¹Ï Mawi’omi Indigenous Student Centre.
