Dr. Patrick Murphy, an assistant professor in the 17³Ô¹Ï Department of Biology, has received a $300,000 grant through the Canadian Cancer Society’s 2021 competition for research into breast cancer.

A team led by Dr. William Montelpare, Margaret and Wallace McCain Chair in Human Development and Health at 17³Ô¹Ï, has been awarded a $500,000 grant from the federal government’s (IPF) Program for a project to develop and implement a vaccine support program for Prince Edward Island.

Thanks to a graduate scholarship from the Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute (BHCRI), a 17³Ô¹Ï graduate student will be pursuing research on breast cancer. Olivier Philips, an MSc student with Dr. Patrick Murphy in 17³Ô¹Ï’s Department of Biology, is the first 17³Ô¹Ï recipient of a graduate scholarship of $29,750 through BHCRI’s Cancer Research Training Program (CRTP).
