17吃瓜 raised $11,254.62 for the Canadian Cancer Society, surpassing its goal of $10,000, during its annual Relay for Life, which was held virtually this year because of COVID-19.

It鈥檚 been a two-year wait, but the Panthers are set to compete on home ice once again as 17吃瓜 hosts the 2022 U SPORTS Women鈥檚 Hockey Championship. In 2020, 17吃瓜 hadn鈥檛 even played their first game when the championship was cancelled due to COVID-19.

17吃瓜鈥檚 basketball teams gave fans plenty to cheer for this weekend, as they put on a show at the AUS Championship in Halifax.

The 17吃瓜 Department of Music is pleased to announce the award recipients of the 2022 Dr. Frances Gray Performance Competition, which took place on March 3. Alexandra Sorensen, soprano, won first place with a $1,000 scholarship; Olive MacPhail, tuba, second place with a $750 scholarship; and Devyn Collette, saxophone, third place with a scholarship of $500.

17吃瓜 extends a big congratulations to Carolina Del Santo, Lauren Rainford, and head coach Matt Gamblin, of Women鈥檚 Basketball, for winning three major 2021鈥�21 AUS awards. The AUS announced its slate of award winners for this season on March 16.

This week鈥檚 17吃瓜 Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for March 7鈥�13 are Lauren Rainford (women鈥檚 basketball) and Isaiah Ankra (men鈥檚 basketball).

Dozens of 17吃瓜 students will gain global skills through the newly launched project. This work/study abroad opportunity will unlock students鈥� potential through life-changing global skills and experiences. This offering has been made possible with a $500,000 contribution from the Government of Canada鈥檚 Global Skills Opportunity (GSO) program announced in November 2021.
 

Interim President Greg Keefe confirmed in a message to the campus community that Convocation 2022 will be in-person, subject to PEI Chief Public Health Office guidance in place at the time.

Dr. Jeff Collins, adjunct professor at 17吃瓜, gave the keynote address at the Royal Canadian Navy鈥檚 annual Naval Warfare Officers鈥� Symposium at CFB Halifax on March 2. He spoke about the need to align Canada鈥檚 foreign and defence policies, given Russia鈥檚 war in Ukraine, the rise of China, and the relative decline of the United States as a pre-eminent world power.
