The inaugural Shannon K. Murray Lecture on Hope and the Academy, presented by Dr. Shannon Murray at 17Թ on September 5, will be broadcast on CBC Radio’s national program Ideas on Monday, November 13, at 4:00 am and 8:00 pm.

Come out and take care of YOU at the 17Թ Self-Care Fair on Wednesday, November 22, between 10:00 am–2:00 pm in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre. Visit over 20 informative and interactive booths that will focus on self-care including acupuncture, reflexology, reiki, body composition scanning, reflexology, blood pressure/glucose testing, COVID-19 vaccine boosters, nutrition, mental health, physical activity, and more. There will be free food and prizes. We will also accept non-perishable food donations in support of the 17Թ Campus Food Bank.

November 8 is Indigenous Veterans Day. The First Nations, Inuit and Métis people of Canada have a long and proud tradition of military service to our country.
Twenty 17Թ researchers present at international small islands conference in Aruba
The 17Թ was well-represented at the second international conference on small island states and subnational island jurisdictions, titled “Turning the Tide: Climate Change, Social Change, and Islandness” in Oranjestad, Aruba, from October 23 to 26, 2023.

7:00 pm: The 17Թ Men’s Hockey Panthers (3-7) play against the Saint Mary’s Huskies (4-6) in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Panthers lost the first game in the matchup 3-0.
Friday, November 10
AT HOME:
7:00 pm: The 17Թ Women’s Hockey Panthers (2-8) host the Mount Allison University Mounties (0-6-3) at MacLauchlan Arena. The Panthers won the first game in the matchup in overtime 2-1.

Aiden Rainford and Jace Colley named 17Թ Panther Athletes of the Week
Every week, 17Թ Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 17Թ Panther Athletes of the Week for October 30–November 5 are Aiden Rainford (women’s basketball) and Jace Colley (men’s basketball).
17Թ engineering students help make wish come true for O’Leary child
The 17Թ Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE) recently collaborated with the Make-a-Wish Foundation to help grant a wish for an Island child by assembling a wheelchair-accessible swing at his home in O’Leary, PEI.
Eight-year-old Alexander MacKenzie MacDonald is non-verbal, has severe cerebral palsy and is legally blind. When he was granted a wish from the Make-a-Wish Foundation earlier this year, his family chose a wheelchair-accessible swing because they know he enjoys swings whenever he has an opportunity to use them.
