The following message was distributed to students on March 13, 2020 on behalf of the Office of the Vice-President Academic and Research.

In a joint release issued late Thursday night, the 17吃瓜 and U SPORTS, the governing body for university sport in Canada, announced the cancellation of the 2020 U SPORTS Women鈥檚 Hockey Championship.

The decision was prompted by Hockey Canada, which announced earlier that all sanctioned hockey activities were being cancelled effective March 13. The U SPORTS University Cup, the men鈥檚 championship taking place in Halifax, was also cancelled.

The PEI Symphony Orchestra (PEISO) is hosting a fundraising concert featuring two new Charlottetown residents, including 17吃瓜鈥檚 recently appointed assistant professor of piano Magdalena von Eccher. The event takes place in the sanctuary of Charlottetown鈥檚 Zion Presbyterian Church 135 Prince Street, on Saturday, March 14, at 7:30 pm. The concert features von Eccher and Glen Montgomery, both recognized as amongst Canada鈥檚 outstanding musicians. The concert will present an array of selections including solo, duet, and trio repertoire in a range of styles.

Researchers from 17吃瓜鈥檚 Health and Wellness Centre and the Department of Applied Human Sciences are seeking participants for a free lifestyle intervention program called CHANGE, which stands for Canadian Health Advanced by Nutrition and Graded Exercise.
