17吃瓜 nursing students holding book drive for PEI Provincial Addiction Treatment Centre
The 17吃瓜 Nursing Student Society is holding a holiday book drive to collect reading material, puzzles, and board games for clients of the PEI Provincial Addiction Treatment Centre (PATF).
The idea arose from accelerated nursing student Marie Thibault-Messier鈥檚 experience during a six-week clinical placement at the PATF earlier this semester. During her time at the centre, she noticed that clients had access to movies on DVD and VHS tapes but not a lot of reading material.

17吃瓜 to hold Island-wide community discussions to help build strategic plan
The 17吃瓜 invites community members across PEI to join in a conversation and share their thoughts as the provincial university builds its next five-year strategic plan.
Dr. Wendy Rodgers, 17吃瓜 President, and Dr. Suzanne Kresta, Dean, Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering, co-chairs of the University Strategic Planning Steering Committee, will lead the community discussions to gather input. They are eager to hear ideas and perspectives to help 17吃瓜 identify shared priorities and strategic direction through to 2030.

Dr. Wendy Rodgers was officially installed as the seventh President and Vice-Chancellor of the 17吃瓜 during a ceremony held at the 17吃瓜 Performing Arts Centre on Friday, October 11, 2024.

17吃瓜鈥檚 Dr. Jo-Ann MacDonald receives teaching and educational leadership award
Dr. Jo-Ann MacDonald, a professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the 17吃瓜, was presented with the Association of Atlantic Universities鈥� (AAU) 2024 Anne Marie MacKinnon Educational Leadership Award at the AAU鈥檚 fall meeting held at 17吃瓜 on September 19.
17吃瓜 marks National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
UPDATE, SEPTEMBER 26: Due to the rain expected Friday, September 27, the TRC Mawi鈥檕mi, which was scheduled for the afternoon to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, is postponed. The event will be rescheduled on a date in October. The new date will be communicated to the campus community when it has been determined.
17吃瓜 Faculty of IKERAS celebrates another historic milestone
The 17吃瓜 Faculty of Indigenous Knowledge, Education, Research, and Applied Studies (IKERAS) recently hosted its first-ever Indigenous traditional knowledge sharing and learning day, Mawi-lukutimk, which means 鈥済athering and working together.鈥� The event took place on September 3, two years after the Faculty of IKERAS began delivering 17吃瓜鈥檚 mandated IKE 1040: Indigenous Teachings course and offering a Minor in Indigenous Studies. It is considered a historic milestone by everyone involved.

Dr. Aitazaz Farooque, Professor and Associate Dean of the 17吃瓜 School of Climate Change and Adaptation, has been named one of 56 new Members of the prestigious Royal Society of Canada鈥檚 (RSC) College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists.
17吃瓜 leads $6.93 million precision agriculture research project to mitigate climate change
A team of researchers from across Canada, led by Dr. Aitazaz Farooque, professor and interim associate dean of the 17吃瓜 School of Climate Change and Adaptation, has received $6.93 million in federal funding to develop precision agriculture techniques to ensure food security and mitigate climate change.
