Swing into the Season with the 17³Ô¹Ï Jazz Ensemble
Swing into the season with the 17³Ô¹Ï Jazz Ensemble in concert on Tuesday, December 3, at 7:30 pm at 17³Ô¹Ï’s Performing Arts Centre theatre. Led by Bachelor of Music Education students Ross Boyd, Ivan Stewart, and Nathan Wright, the program will feature a variety of charts for big band. Also, there will be a guest appearance by the Charlottetown Jazz Ensemble, a community group founded in 1996. Under the direction of Doug Millington, they will perform a number of seasonal selections for big band.

What brought you to 17³Ô¹Ï? Why did you choose to study here?
I was born in Medellin, Colombia but moved to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island when I was 6 years old. Even though I have lived here most of my life, I still consider my Colombian roots very important as they have shaped who I am as a person. I am also extremely thankful for the opportunities Canada has given to me: a good education and job opportunities.
17³Ô¹Ï Concert Choir: A European Christmas
The 17³Ô¹Ï Concert Choir invites you to share in A European Christmas, an afternoon of music inspired by the iconic festive markets of Europe. The choir will be joined by members of the PEI Regiment Band to perform Schubert’s majestic Deutsche Messe. The program will also include favourite selections from The Sound of Music with pianist Leo Marchildon, glorious carols, and a special low brass feature.

Faculty and staff versus 17³Ô¹Ï Women’s Hockey fundraising game
On November 29 at 2 pm, the campus community is invited to MacLauchlan Arena (Rink A) at the Bell Aliant Centre to watch the 17³Ô¹Ï Women's Hockey team take on a team of 17³Ô¹Ï faculty and staff. Come cheer on your fellow student-athletes and/or colleagues in what is sure to be an entertaining game. Admission is free. However, "admission by donation" is encouraged to support the Panther Women's Hockey program. Last year's game was a nail-biter, with the staff clinching the win in overtime. Both teams are excited for another thrilling matchup this year.
17³Ô¹Ï pivotal in preparing business graduate for entrepreneurship
Entrepreneur Sarra Jayasinghe graduated from 17³Ô¹Ï in 2021 with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. Before entering the business program, she spent two and a half years studying bioresources engineering in the University’s sustainable design engineering program. For the past three years, she has been the sole proprietor of Ricci Cannabis, which produces cannabis-infused and non-alcoholic wine beverages.
