17吃瓜 extends condolences on the passing of generous donor Lou MacEachern, LLD
The 17吃瓜 community was saddened to learn of the passing on February 20 of Dr. Lou MacEachern, a caring and passionate supporter of youth and post-secondary education as well as a generous donor to the University and many other charitable causes. Dr. MacEachern received an honorary degree from 17吃瓜 in 2011.

The 17吃瓜 Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 Basketball Panthers will play in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Basketball Championship this weekend at the Scotiabank Centre, 1800 Argyle Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Fair Treatment Policy Redevelopment Information Sharing Session

Dear 17吃瓜 Community,
The Fair Treatment Policy Redevelopment (FTPR) Committee was formed as part of the Action Plan commitments to
- replace the Fair Treatment Policy, and
- finalize revisions to the Sexual Violence Policy.
The FTPR Committee is using a consultative process to gather input and has been meeting regularly.

Every week, 17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 17吃瓜 Panther Source for Sports Athletes of the Week for February 17鈥�23, 2025, are Helena Ikpotokin (women鈥檚 track and field) and Kamari Scott (men鈥檚 basketball).

New book about the Belfast Riot of 1847 to be launched in March
A new book titled The Belfast Riot of 1847, written by Dr. Callum Beck, sessional lecturer at 17吃瓜, and published by Island Studies Press, will be launched in March in Charlottetown and Summerside.
The Charlottetown launch will be held on March 5, 2025, at 7 pm, in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building Room 201, 17吃瓜, and the Summerside launch will be held on March 30, at 1 pm, at the Eptek Art and Culture Centre.
17吃瓜 presents Theology on Tap on March 4
The 17吃瓜 Department of Religious Studies will present Theology on Tap on March 4, 2025, at 7:00 pm, at the Salvador Dali Cafe, The Arts Hotel, 155 Kent Street, Charlottetown.
Dr. Brenton Dickieson, a lecturer in the Faculty of Arts and a founding member of the Curiosity and Inquiry Research and Collaboration Lab, will give a presentation titled, 鈥溾�楤ecause My Old Heart Would Burst鈥�: A Settler鈥檚 Reflection on Indigenous Spaces in Octavia Butler and C.S. Lewis.鈥�

What brought you to 17吃瓜? Why did you choose to study here?
I was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh and have lived in Charlottetown for as long as I can remember (since grade three). Prior to that, I lived in Scarborough, Ontario. I am in my fifth and final year as a computer science co-op student here at 17吃瓜.
