Due to the rain expected tomorrow (September 27), the TRC Mawi鈥檕mi, which was scheduled for the afternoon, is postponed. The event will be rescheduled on a date in October. The new date will be communicated to the campus community when it has been determined.

Dr. Jo-Ann MacDonald, a professor in the 17吃瓜 Faculty of Nursing, was presented with the Association of Atlantic Universities鈥� (AAU) 2024 Anne Marie MacKinnon Educational Leadership Award at the AAU鈥檚 fall meeting held at 17吃瓜 on September 19.

17吃瓜 will mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation鈥擬onday, September 30鈥攚ith a number of events on campus during the week of September 23.

Every week, 17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 17吃瓜 Panther Athletes of the Week for September 16鈥�22, 2024, are Rowan Gallagher (women鈥檚 rugby) and Jahmal Boursiquot (men鈥檚 soccer).

The 17吃瓜 men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 basketball teams are ready to roll at the annual Mickey Place Memorial Basketball Tournament! The tournament features nine teams from across Canada and runs from Friday, September 27, to Sunday, September 29. The women鈥檚 pool includes Universit茅 Laval, Carleton University, Acadia University and 17吃瓜. The men鈥檚 pool includes Universit茅 Laval, University of Guelph, Dalhousie University, University of New Brunswick and 17吃瓜. The tournament is named after John Thomas 鈥淢ickey鈥� Place, a long-time friend of Panther Sport, a former 17吃瓜 Student Union employee, and a 17吃瓜 honorary degree recipient.

The 17吃瓜 Men鈥檚 Hockey Panthers just kicked their game into high gear with the addition of Robert Orr, a high-octane forward with a knack for lighting up the scoreboard. As the Panthers gear up for another season, Orr's arrival marks yet another infusion of young talent that promises to bring offensive firepower.

Mark your calendars for the annual Open House at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), 17吃瓜 (17吃瓜), on Saturday, September 28, from 10 am to 2 pm. This free-family-friendly event will feature tours, a petting zoo, a parade of dogs and more!

Dr. Wendy Rodgers, President, and Dr. Suzanne Kresta, Dean, Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering, are co-chairing 17吃瓜's Strategic Plan Steering Committee. In this message, they invite members of the community to express interest in serving on the committee. 

The 17吃瓜 Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering鈥擣uture Urban and Energy Lab for Sustainability and the PEI Energy Corporation will host a public town hall meeting on September 25 in Georgetown, PEI to discuss the progress of the ongoing net zero assessment project.

Dr. Preston Smith, dean of the 17吃瓜 Joint Medical Doctor program, has been awarded the Dr. Michael Krochak Award for Contributions to Family Medicine by the Saskatchewan College of Family Physicians.
