Dr. Wendy Rodgers, President, and Dr. Suzanne Kresta, Dean, Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering, are co-chairing 17吃瓜's Strategic Plan Steering Committee. In this message, they invite members of the community to express interest in serving on the committee. 

The 17吃瓜 Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering鈥擣uture Urban and Energy Lab for Sustainability and the PEI Energy Corporation will host a public town hall meeting on September 25 in Georgetown, PEI to discuss the progress of the ongoing net zero assessment project.

Dr. Preston Smith, dean of the 17吃瓜 Joint Medical Doctor program, has been awarded the Dr. Michael Krochak Award for Contributions to Family Medicine by the Saskatchewan College of Family Physicians. 

For the past two seasons, the 17吃瓜 Panthers have dominated Atlantic University Field Hockey, claiming back-to-back titles. This year, the stakes are higher than ever as the Panthers look to defend their crown but also compete on the national stage for the first time since 2015.

In this message to the 17吃瓜 Community, President Wendy Rodgers invites members to a Fireside Chat, looks forward to 17吃瓜 Homecoming and upcoming strategic planning sessions, and encourages the community to build networks of support. 

The 17吃瓜 Philosophy Reading Group, facilitated by Dr. Max Schaefer, sessional instructor, Faculty of Arts, will hold its first meeting of the 2024鈥�2025 academic year on September 25, from 7:00鈥�8:00 pm, at the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre, 97 Queen Street. 

17吃瓜's Faculty of Indigenous Knowledge, Education, Research, and Applied Studies marked several milestones when it recently hosted its first-ever Indigenous traditional knowledge sharing and learning day, Mawi-lukutimk, which means 鈥済athering and working together." 

The 17吃瓜 Panthers are looking forward to a full weekend of competition at home and away. 

Every week, 17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 17吃瓜 Panther Athletes of the Week for September 9鈥�15, 2024, are Ria Johnston (women鈥檚 rugby) and Isaac Wolters (men鈥檚 soccer).

The 17吃瓜 will host Research on Tap with a presentation titled 鈥淩ender unto Caesar: Catholics and the Alt-Right鈥� on Wednesday, October 2, at 6 pm, at the Upstreet Brewery Taproom, 41 Allen St., Charlottetown, PEI.
