The Mickey Place Memorial Basketball Tournament, presented by Rodd Hotels & Resorts, begins on Friday, October 16. Eight basketball teams from across Canada and the United States will compete in this annual three-day event.

17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation highlights the hard work and dedication of two student athletes every seven days with the Subway Athletes of the Week. This week, we honour Emily Keen from the women鈥檚 rugby team and Dut Dut from the men鈥檚 basketball team

17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation and Development and Alumni Engagement invite all former 17吃瓜 rugby players and fans to 鈥淩ugby Alumni Day鈥� on Saturday, October 10. The alumni day for former rugby players is being held in conjunction with the 17吃瓜 Women鈥檚 Rugby game versus Acadia at 2:00 pm at MacAdam Field (17吃瓜 Alumni Canada Games Place).

The 17吃瓜 School of Sustainable Design Engineering (SDE) participated in the CIBC Run for the Cure on October 4, and did so in big way. Stephen Peters, a second-year SDE student, came in second in the men's competition with a time of 24 minutes in the 5K run. 

17吃瓜 case competition students have started their year off 鈥渞ight鈥� by taking top spots at the Atlantic Schools of Business (ASB) Case Competition. 17吃瓜 teams won both first and second place against nine other teams from Atlantic Canada. The competition took place on September 26 and was an integral part of the 45th annual ASB conference, one Canada鈥檚 longest running academic business conferences.

Joan Clark will give a public reading and sign books on October 28 at 7:30 pm in the Confederation Centre Art Gallery. The reading is part of the Winter鈥檚 Tales Authors鈥� Reading Series and is sponsored by the 17吃瓜 Faculty of Arts and The Canada Council for the Arts.

The Atlantic Veterinary College presented its 2015 Honourable Eugene F. Whelan Green Hat Award on Friday, October 2, to the trustees of the Christofor Foundation for their long-standing support of the Sir James Dunn Animal Welfare Centre.

On Wednesday, September 30, Dr. Greg Keefe, Dean of the Atlantic Veterinary College, was pleased to host the Honourable Alan McIsaac, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, and John Jamieson, deputy minister. 

The 17吃瓜 Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for the week of September 28-October 4 are Kelsie Collier, Women鈥檚 Soccer and Lorenzo Parker, Men鈥檚 Basketball. 17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation showcases these talented athletes to recognize their hard work and dedication to their respective sports. 17吃瓜 Athletes of the Week are also nominated to Atlantic University Sport and Canadian Interuniversity Sport for possible recognition in the region and/or country.

The 17吃瓜 announced its new slate for the volunteer Board of Governors today, fittingly on Founders Day, a day when 17吃瓜 honours those who contribute to the institution.

The Board of Governors, which is instituted under the terms of the University Act, consists of volunteers appointed from several organizations (Senate, Board, Alumni Association, Government of PEI, and Faculty). These volunteers are responsible for the governance of the University.
