Richard Nowakowski will talk games in a public lecture as part of the Canadian Mathematical Society’s Summer Meeting at the 17³Ô¹Ï. Chess and checkers are two games that Nowakowski studies, as he specializes in two player games where the players move alternately, there are no random factors and the last player to move determines the winner. Nowakowski is heavily involved with the CMS and mathematics in the Maritimes. He volunteers with Dalhousie Math Circles, a mathematics outreach program based out of the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Dalhousie University, where he works as a research professor. Nowakowski also volunteered on a team of university markers across Canada who graded the Sun Life Financial Canadian Mathematics Challenge (COMC) in November 2014. He has worked with the CMS since the mid 1980s and is a former Canadian Mathematical Olympiad (CMO) Chair. The free, public lecture will launch the 2015 Canadian Mathematical Society Summer Meeting. Over 300 mathematics professionals, students and educators from Canada and around the world are expected to attend. No mathematical background is required to appreciate the talk!

The Tommies are spending their Friday night taking on your 17³Ô¹Ï Men's Hockey Panthers. Puck drop is at 7:00pm at the MacLauchlan Arena.

Your 17³Ô¹Ï Women's Hockey team begin their two game weekend with X in town, game time is 7:00pm at the MacLauchlan Arena.

It is the final game of the semester, the Tigers arrive at the Cari to take on the Panthers for an afternoon matinee, game time is 2:00pm.

First game after the Christmas break, the Panthers will entertain the Xmen at the MacLauchlan Arena, game time is 7:00pm.

The second of a two game home stand for the Panthers see the Dal Tigers come into MacLauchlan for a 7:00pm puck drop.

It' an afternoon puck drop (4:00 pm) at the MacLauchlan Arena. MTA will make their first trip to the Island to face your 17³Ô¹Ï Women's Hockey Panthers.

17³Ô¹Ï is proud to host the Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS), the Atlantic Association for Research in the Mathematical Science (AARMS), and over 300 professionals, students, and educators from the mathematical community to the 2015 CMS Summer Meeting in Charlottetown from June 5-8. All meeting activities are taking place on the 17³Ô¹Ï campus (unless otherwise noted on conference website).

Huskies will battle the Panthers at the Sports Centre, tip off is 6:00pm.
