17Թ Contemporary Chamber Music Workshop: Inaugural Performance!

You're invited to the inaugural performance of the 17Թ Contemporary Chamber Music Workshop, which will take place Saturday, October 19, at 12:30pm in Steel Recital Hall, on the 17Թ Campus. It will be a 40-45-minute performance without a break, and a feast for your auditory and visual senses!

PEI musical premieres by our sonic grandmother Pauline Oliveros, BC composer Jordan Nobles, minimalist master Terry Riley, and ensemble musicians!

Free admission; all welcome!

17Թ Korean Speech Contest

17Թ Korean Speech Contest is open to all 17Թ students who speak Korean as a foreign or second language at the introductory (beginner) level.

The 2019 Contest will be held on November 22 (Friday) from 1:00 to 3:00 pm in the Faculty Lounge (Main Building 201). Free food and beverage will be provided.

17Թ hosts public lecture about equity, diversity, and decolonization in higher education

Dr. Malinda S. Smith, professor of political science, and a Provost Fellow EDI Policy, University of Alberta, will give a public talk called “Equity, Diversity, and Decolonization in Higher Education: An Agenda for Change,” on Wednesday, October 23, 4 pm, in Lecture Theatre A, Atlantic Veterinary College, 17Թ. 

Smith will talk about her recent research and offer a critical assessment of the status of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) programs and initiatives in Canadian higher education.

17Թ issues call for nominations for honorary degree candidates

The 17Թ is seeking nominations of candidates for honorary degrees to be awarded at Convocation in May of 2020.

The University’s honorary degrees recognize people who have made outstanding contributions in any field of endeavour on provincial, national, or international levels. Whether Islanders or people with strong PEI connections, candidates will have extraordinary intellectual or artistic achievements, or service to society.

Walk With a Doc PEI

Walk With a Doc is a free event, open to anyone who would like to come for a self-paced walk with local doctors and other healthcare professionals. No registration required. 

Each walk begins with a 5 minute talk on a health-related topic, followed by an hour of walking and conversation.

If you are interested, meet us at the 17Թ outdoor track at 9am on Oct 12 (if raining, we will be on the 17Թ indoor track).
