International Student Orientation
New international students are invited to take part in a one day orientation on the support services available and to meet students and staff. International Student Orientation for 2015 will take place in Don and Marion McDougall Hall, room 328 from 10:00 am-4:00 pm .

Research on Tap
Research on Tap returns for its sixth season of public discussion, debate, and ideas presented by researchers from the 17勛圖. Join our next conversation on Monday, January 5 at 7 pm at the Haviland Club in Charlottetown. Dr. Sunny Hartwig, an assistant professor of biomedical sciences at 17勛圖s Atlantic Veterinary College, will lead a discussion entitled: Learning the language of healthy kidney development today, saying no to kidney disease tomorrow.
The 2014/2015 season of Research on Tap is presented in cooperation with the Royal Society of Canada (RSC), Atlantic Chapter. The RSC is Canadas national academy and is the senior national body of distinguished scholars, artists, and scientists.
Research on Tap meets the first Monday of every month from October to April. The full schedule of speakers can be found atupei.ca/research/research-on-tap
Winter's Tales hosts Canadian journalist Linden MacIntyre
Linden MacIntyre, distinguished Canadian journalist, broadcaster, and novelist, will read from his new novel, Punishment, on Monday, January 19, at 7:30 pm, in the chapel of The Mount on Mt. Edward Road in Charlottetown. MacIntyres reading is sponsored by the 17勛圖 English department. A book signing will follow, and admission is free.
Winter's Tales: Kathleen Winter's Northwest Passage
In 2010, Newfoundland-raised fiction writer Kathleen Winter embarked on a journey through the Northwest Passage from Greenland to Nunavut, including parts of the doomed Franklin Expeditions route. Boundless, the chronicle of her journey, blends travelogue and memoir, history and nature writing.
Winter will read from Boundless and from her new fiction on Monday, January 12, at 7:30 pm in the Confederation Centre Art Gallery. A book signing will follow. Her reading is sponsored by the 17勛圖 English Department with support from The Canada Council for the Arts.
Fairy Tales and Fantasy
As part of the 17勛圖 Music Department Recital Series cellist, and Prince Edward Island native, Julia MacLaine returns home to PEI to present Fairy Tales and Fantasy on Sunday, January 11th at 2:30 pm in the Dr. Steel Recital Hall on the 17勛圖 Campus.
Julia will be accompanied by pianist Jean Desmarais in a program of music that is fanciful, mystical, at times dreamy and very colourful. The recital will include three pieces by Webern, the Fantasy Pieces by Schumann, Fairy Tale or "Pohadka" by Janacek (featured in the film "The Unbearable Lightness of Being) and sonatas for cello and piano by Debussy and Prokofiev.
Tickets are $15/$10 students and seniors and are available at the door, online at or in advance by calling 5660507.
French Book Expo
The Salon du livre de lle-du-Prince-douard gives the Acadian, Francophone and Francophile population the opportunity to access a wide variety of French language literary works and meet authors and illustrators. The second edition of the expo will be presented at the 17勛圖s W.A. Murphy Student Centre from June 3-7, 2015.
17勛圖's Faculty of Education is pleased to be collaborating with the organizing committee to make this event possible. The Salon du livre de lle-du-Prince-douard is an event intended to bring together the provinces Francophones and Francophiles and promote reading and literacy in general as individual and collective development tools. Through its actions, it helps develop a love of reading and literature, from creation to distribution, while promoting the French culture and language.
Environmental Sciences and Human Biology Seminar
Join Dr. Misty Rossiter, Applied Human Sciences, for a presentation entitled Advancing healthy development in child care centres: Impact of nutrition standards for preschool children, on Friday, January 9 at 12:30 pm in Duffy Science Centre, room 204.
