17Թ’s basketball teams gave fans plenty to cheer for this weekend, as they put on a show at the AUS Championship in Halifax.
17Թ music department announced recipients of 2022 Dr. Frances Gray Performance Competition
The 17Թ Department of Music is pleased to announce the award recipients of the 2022 Dr. Frances Gray Performance Competition, which took place on March 3. Alexandra Sorensen, soprano, won first place with a $1,000 scholarship; Olive MacPhail, tuba, second place with a $750 scholarship; and Devyn Collette, saxophone, third place with a scholarship of $500.

Support the student-led virtual 17Թ Relay for Life, this Sunday night, March 20 from 7–9 pm.
We’re embarking on a new journey this year that will be filled with the signature Relay For Life activities that you know and love, but in a virtual event format. The virtual event will consist of an opening ceremony that includes a guest speaker, a luminary ceremony, playing a trivia and at-home scavenger hunt game, and a closing ceremony.

17Թ Women’s Basketball adds point guard Kiana Linton-Brown
Kiana Linton-Brown didn’t always know she wanted to be a basketball player.
Growing up, Linton-Brown was exposed to the game quite a bit because her older brother Shae played, but it was gymnastics and track that consumed her time.
“I didn’t start playing basketball until about Grade 5 or 6,” she said. “My brother wanted me to run track because he believed I could be great.”
Linton-Brown always looked up to Shae and admired everything he accomplished on the court. His love of the game eventually rubbed off on his sister.

Dozens of 17Թ students will gain global skills through the newly launched project.
This work/study abroad opportunity will unlock students’ potential through life-changing global skills and experiences. This offering has been made possible with a $500,000 contribution from the Government of Canada’s Global Skills Opportunity (GSO) program announced in November 2021.
