Distinguished 17³Ô¹Ï Music Alumni Series Podcasts

During the fall of 2020, Dr. Karem Simon, chair of the 17³Ô¹Ï Department of Music, initiated a series of interviews with alumni, which was an opportunity for them to share their music and professional journeys. These were presented live to music students during the time slot reserved for Friday afternoon student recitals.

While the pandemic has been an obstacle for its continuation, this series was recently re-imagined as an online platform, which has enabled conversations with our alumni from around the world. Interviews have been recorded with:

17³Ô¹Ï extends condolences on the passing of Dr. F. Alan Reesor, Professor Emeritus

The entire 17³Ô¹Ï community is saddened to learn of the passing of 17³Ô¹Ï Professor Emeritus, Dr. F. Alan Reesor on March 9 in Charlottetown. The flags in front of the Kelley Memorial Building have been lowered to half-mast in his memory. 

Dr. Reesor was a long-time faculty member of the 17³Ô¹Ï Music Department, joining the University as musicologist and organ professor in 1971. He began serving as the church organist and choir director at St. Peter’s Cathedral that same year.

Developing a Teaching Dossier for Award Nominations

If you are working on a teaching dossier to support an award nomination then join us for a session on Monday March 14 at 12:30 to learning more about the process and suggestions for making your dossier stand out to adjudication committee members.

A panel of three teaching and educational leadership award recipients Amy MacFarlane (Business), Kathy Snow (Education) and Jason Pearson (Chemistry) will be here to share their experiences. 

The session will take place in the Teaching and Learning Centre and will be recorded. 

Panthers at Home, March 9 and 11—It’s PLAYOFF time!

It’s the most exciting time of year in winter sports, when both 17³Ô¹Ï hockey teams prepare for the playoffs. 
 
17³Ô¹Ï Women’s Hockey kick things off Wednesday night when they host the St. Thomas Tommies in a win-or-go-home quarter-final game. Puck drops at 7 pm. The winner will then move on to a best-of-three semi-final. So, let’s "PACK THE MAC" and help us cheer on the Panthers who look to capture their second AUS championship. Tickets can be purchased at the Bell Aliant Centre box office Wednesday at 6 pm. 
 

17³Ô¹Ï Virtual Career Fair - March 23

The 17³Ô¹Ï Experiential Education department and 17³Ô¹Ï Career Services host an annual Career Fair inviting students to learn about employment opportunities in our region. The Fair will feature employers from various industries that are hiring students for full-time, part-time, or seasonal positions.

The Fair will include several virtual lunchtime events with live employer presentations and Q&A sessions.  There will also be information sheets on each employer, and a YouTube playlist of pre-recorded videos.
