Institute of Island Studies hosts public lecture on January 24
The Institute of Island Studies at 17吃瓜 will host a public lecture titled 鈥淭owards Energy Sovereignty on Labrador鈥檚 Remote Island of Ponds鈥� on January 24 at 7 pm in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building.
2023 FISU Winter World University Games Team Canada Men鈥檚 Hockey Schedule
The 2023 Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) Winter World University Games is underway, and two 17吃瓜 Panthers, TJ Shea and Matt Brassard, are among 22 student-athletes representing Team Canada. 17吃瓜 forward Kyle Maksimovich was also selected to play but could not attend due to a recent injury.

The Atlantic Veterinary College is now accepting nominations for the Atlantic Award of Excellence in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Care.
17吃瓜鈥檚 16th annual Shoot for the Cure will take place on January 26
17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation will host the sixteenth annual Shoot for the Cure fundraiser on Thursday, January 26, when the Women鈥檚 Basketball Panthers take on the University of New Brunswick Reds at 6 pm on their home court. The event was originally scheduled for January 13, but had to be postponed due to weather conditions.
Update on the 17吃瓜 Faculty of Medicine
Dr. Greg Keefe, President and Vice-Chancellor (Interim), invites faculty, staff, and students to attend an update on the 17吃瓜 Faculty of Medicine on Friday, January 13, at 10:45 am, in the Duffy Amphitheatre (Room 135), Duffy Science Centre. Every week, 17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 17吃瓜 Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for January 2鈥�8 are Taylor Gillis (women鈥檚 hockey) and Jonah Capriotti (men鈥檚 hockey).

Dr. Marva Sweeney-Nixon, professor of biology, has been appointed associate vice-president research and dean of graduate studies at 17吃瓜, effective January 1, 2023.
Applications now open for the Atlantic Veterinary College鈥檚 Dr. Tim Ogilvie AVC Vet Camp
The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) is now accepting applications for the 2023 Dr. Tim Ogilvie AVC Vet Camp (AVC Vet Camps).
The four, one-week camps are offered annually in the summer and provide an opportunity for junior high and senior high school students to learn what it is like to be a veterinarian. Participants have the opportunity to work alongside faculty, staff, students, and experts in the field during a number of hands-on activities, labs, lectures, field trips, and discussions.
Startup Zone tour for computer science students
17吃瓜 students majoring in computer science are invited to join Startup Zone on January 19 at 3 pm at their office at 31 Queen Street, Charlottetown, to learn about their resident companies and programs.
Registration is required through our , and space is limited to 25. Only 17吃瓜 computer science majors are eligible to attend. An email will be sent to all registrants to confirm their spots. Registrants are responsible for their own transportation to and from Startup Zone.
