17³Ô¹Ï School of Climate Change and Adaptation participates in World Environment Day activities
World Environment Day, one of the biggest international days for the environment, took place on June 5, and the 17³Ô¹Ï School of Climate Change and Adaptation participated in activities at the Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation in St. Peter’s Bay.

Orientation for new 17³Ô¹Ï faculty, librarians, clinical nursing instructors, and clinical veterinary professionals will take place on August 21, 22, and 23, 2023, at 1:00 pm Atlantic.
World Environment Day
on June 5 is one of the biggest international days for the environment. Led by the (UNEP) and held annually since 1974, the event has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach, with millions of people from across the world engaging to protect the planet.
17³Ô¹Ï Hockey Panthers continue to stack blue line with addition of Cam Morton
The 17³Ô¹Ï Men’s Hockey Panthers have secured a commitment from Inverary, Ontario native Cam Morton for the 2023–24 season. The team is excited that their new blueline is taking shape with the addition of this strong defenceman.
Morton joins the Panthers after having spent the last four seasons with the Ontario Hockey League’s Erie Otters.
17³Ô¹Ï’s Dr. Xander Wang receives national award for significant contributions to civil engineering
Dr. Xiuquan (Xander) Wang, associate professor and director of the Climate Smart Lab at 17³Ô¹Ï’s Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation, is the recipient of the E. Whitman Wright Award for Excellence in Information Technology in Civil Engineering from the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE). The award was presented during the CSCE’s annual conference in Moncton, New Brunswick, May 24–27, 2023.
17³Ô¹Ï increases EV charging stations across campus
With the assistance of the Government of Prince Edward Island’s Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Fund, 17³Ô¹Ï now has 20 EV charger locations across campus in Charlottetown in addition to four at the Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation in St. Peter’s Bay.
Fred Horrelt, associate vice-president facilities management and construction at 17³Ô¹Ï, believes this initiative is beneficial to the University campus.
17³Ô¹Ï holds celebration to recognize achievements of faculty and staff
Members of the 17³Ô¹Ï community packed McMillan Hall in the W.A. Murphy Student Centre on May 25, 2023, to celebrate the achievements of their colleagues. During the event, the University Awards of Excellence and 25-Year Service Awards were presented to faculty, librarians, clinical veterinary professionals, clinical nursing instructors, sessional instructors, and staff members.
Dr. Greg Keefe, interim president and vice-chancellor, thanked the University community for contributing to the success of 17³Ô¹Ï as a whole and its students in particular.

Thirty-four people participated in the May 2023 Medical Global Brigade in Guatemala.
