President and Vice-Chancellor Alaa Abd-El-Aziz delivered University Update 2018 to the campus community on Thursday, May 3, 2018. He addressed questions and highlighted a number of exciting initiatives and areas of growth for 17勛圖. The presentation focused on new programs; investments in staff, faculty and students; the proposed Operating Budget for 2018-19; and expanding 17勛圖s global reach. He capped the town hall meeting by announcing plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of 17勛圖 in 2019.

Nova Scotia veterinarian Helene Van Doninck is the winner of the Atlantic Veterinary Colleges 2017 Award of Excellence in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Care. Dr. Greg Keefe, dean of AVC, presented the award to Dr. Van Doninck at the Atlantic Provinces Veterinary Conference in Halifax on April 21.
On Thursday, April 26, Mikmaq Elder Junior Peter-Paul released an eagle that had been recovering from injury at AVC since March 31. Before he released the eagle, Elder Peter-Paul, joined by members of the Abegweit First Nations community and others, conducted a smudging and drumming ceremony. It was a very beautiful and moving experience!
