Members of our 17³Ô¹Ï community have been deeply impacted by discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence, among other problems outlined in the (17³Ô¹Ï Review) conducted by Rubin Thomlinson and published by the University in June 2023. The University is committed to providing resources and supports to members of our community who have been and continue to be affected.
In the wake of the 17³Ô¹Ï Review report, 17³Ô¹Ï recognizes the need to acknowledge these problems and to further engage in consultation with our community members. Listening, discussion, and learning will help 17³Ô¹Ï to identify the actions that need to be taken to ensure the fair treatment of all 17³Ô¹Ï community members and to increase the safety for our students and employees.
17³Ô¹Ï also acknowledges the need to rebuild trust on campus and within the broader community. This will take consistent and organized efforts across the University to demonstrate our commitment to community members. Rebuilding trust will also entail demonstrating greater accountability through increased transparency, communication, collaboration, and timely efforts to improve policies, processes, and practices.
17³Ô¹Ï is committed to addressing the recommendations in the 17³Ô¹Ï Review report. To do so, an Action Plan is required to guide decisions and actions in the days, months, and years ahead so that pathways to improvements are well-informed, meaningful, and effectively address the problems identified.
In an effort to seek further input and guidance, 17³Ô¹Ï is engaging internal and external University community members through a 17³Ô¹Ï Action Plan Advisory Group.
