The 17吃瓜 Women鈥檚 Rugby team has recruited Dayna Pitter to wear the green and white for the 2019鈥�2020 season. Pitter is an experienced and accomplished player from Calgary who is comfortable at any position on the field.
In Memoriam: a gathering to remember Gary Bradshaw
Dr. Alaa Abd-El-Aziz, President and Vice-Chancellor, invites the friends and colleagues of Gary Bradshaw, who passed away suddenly last week, to an informal gathering on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 from 3鈥�4 pm in the Faculty Lounge, to remember and reminisce.
Presentation on Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security (IDEaS)
Eric Fournier, Director General of Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security (IDEaS) will be at 17吃瓜 on July 23 to do a presentation to the faculties as well as one-on-one meetings for those who wish to speak with him directly. His presentation will be in FSDE 128A at 10:00 am.

Neuroscience Journal Club
The monthly 17吃瓜 & Friends Neuroscience Journal Club will be held Friday July 12, 2019 from 3-4 pm in the "fishbowl" conference room of the Duffy Research Centre (NRC). Dr. Bruce Craig wins 2019 Mary Lee Spence Documentary Book Award
17吃瓜 history department professor Dr. Bruce Craig has been awarded the 2019 Mary Lee Spence Documentary Book Award for his most recent book, , published by University of Oklahoma Press, 2017.
Launch of "Imagining Anne: The Island Scrapbooks of L.M. Montgomery"
Nimbus Publishing鈥檚 new edition of Imagining Anne: The Island Scrapbooks of L.M. Montgomery will be launched on July 25, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm in the Robertson Library at the 17吃瓜. The book is compiled and edited by Dr. Elizabeth 鈥淏etsy鈥� Epperly, past-president of 17吃瓜 and founder of the L.M. Montgomery Institute (LMMI), who will speak about the book and sign copies. Montgomery treasures, from the LMMI and Robertson Library, will be on display. All are welcome.
Eaglet removed from nest in high-voltage electrical tower
A high-voltage transmission tower in Borden-Carleton, PEI, was the scene of a dramatic event on Wednesday, June 19. With the assistance of Fish and Wildlife PEI and Maritime Electric crews, Dr. David McRuer, wildlife health specialist with Parks Canada and an adjunct professor at AVC, removed an eaglet from its nest, which was located inside the tower structure.
Too young to fly or fend for itself, the young bird had to be removed from its nest for its safety and to protect the power grid. The nest was causing power outages in the area served by the tower.
