17勛圖 50th Anniversary Alumni Speakers Series presents Jim Carter

The 17勛圖 50th Anniversary Alumni Speakers Series and the 17勛圖 Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering are pleased to present a presentation by Jim Carter (Dip. Eng 71, LLD 08), retired CEO of Syncrude Canada Ltd. The event will take place on Thursday, November 7, at noon in the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering building, room 205. Lunch will be provided.

17勛圖 launches new safety app

As part of 17勛圖s commitment to crisis preparedness and response, the University has launched a new, free safety app called 17勛圖 SAFE.

17勛圖 SAFE is an app that the University will use to advise the community about crises, university/storm closures, and safety-related issues, as well as offer health and safety information.

The Politics and Policy of Short-term Rentals

The St Dunstans University Institute of Christianity and Culture at 17勛圖 invites the public to a lecture by Professor David Wachsmuth, Canada Research Chair in Urban Governance at McGill University.

Professor Wachsmuth is one of the worlds leading experts on the impact of short-term rentals on cities and housing markets. His lecture will be entitled The Politics and Policy of Short-term Rentals.

This lecture should be of interest to anyone concerned about the regulation of short-term rentals.

Two journeys, one goal

Eric Andersen started his post-secondary academic career with modest goals. Since his experience studying abroad in Burgos, Spain as part of 17勛圖s May-mester program, hes looking to hit new targets.

Originally from Makkovik, NL, Eric had been working in northern Labrador mining nickel and copper. Although he enjoyed the work, the pay, the two-week-on two-week-off shift schedule, and the fact that he was close to home, he decided to go back to school. He was looking to expand his employable skills, and found a program of interest at 17勛圖. 

17勛圖 student poster wins top honours at the Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition

Recent 17勛圖 grad Timara Uhlig won Best Undergraduate Student Poster Presentation in the Physical, Theoretical, and Computational Chemistry Division of the 2019 Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition, held this summer in Quebec City. Uhlig graduated this past May with her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (honours). Her research was supervised by Dr. Brian Wagner.

Workshop: Talking to the Mediawith Bruce Rainnie

You are invited to a workshop on "Talking to the Media" with Bruce Rainnie, President and CEO of the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in Halifax and former host of CBC PEI's supper-hour news program, Compass.

The workshop will be on Tuesday, October 29, 5:00-8:30pm. On-campus location TBD. Please bring $10 cash which covers pizza and drinks.
