Full Moon Ceremony

On February 2, there will be a full moon ceremony at Kelley Memorial Building, Room 211. This will be a smudging ceremony led by Elder Thirly. We ask participants to bring a bottle of water for blessing and to refrain from recording the ceremony (photo or video). If you would like to wear a skirt but do not have one, you may borrow one during the ceremony. As always, all are welcome.

ʷ’s academic and operational units are feeling constrained for space—and our Department of Athletics and Recreation is no different.

ʷ’s (dated January 2019) provides an outline on how the University approaches capital and space planning at the institution. This plan further outlines that future development and investment should support an “Athletic Campus” zone and specifically notes a “High-Performance Training Centre” as part of a revised sports centre.

Raising of Pan-African flag to mark Black History Month

On Monday, February 2, members of the campus community are invited to join the 17Թ Student Union, the Black Cultural Society, and the African Student Association at the raising of the Pan-African flag at the flag plaza near Kelley Memorial Building at 11:00 am. A reception with local food vendors will follow at 12:30 pm in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre. All are welcome.

17Թ Athletics and Recreation and 17Թ Student Union partner for food and clothing drive

17Թ Athletics and Recreation and the 17Թ Student Union have partnered to support students in need through a campus-wide food and clothing drive during the winter semester.

Panther supporters are invited to donate non-perishable food items and gently used winter clothing, including coats, boots, hats, and mittens, at all remaining Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Men’s Hockey, and Women’s Hockey home games this winter. Collection bins will be available at each event.
