17吃瓜鈥檚 McDougall Faculty of Business wins award at Atlantic Schools of Business Conference
The 17吃瓜 McDougall Faculty of Business received the 2024 Best Overall Performance Award during the Atlantic Schools of Business Conference (ASBC) on September 21 at Saint Mary鈥檚 University (SMU), Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The award recognizes an institution who has the best ratio of work accepted for presentation at the conference compared to the total number of full-time faculty members employed in the respective unit.

Dr. Wendy Rodgers to be installed as 17吃瓜's seventh president on October 11
The Board of Governors invites all members of the 17吃瓜 community to the installation of Dr. Wendy Rodgers as the seventh President and Vice-Chancellor of the 17吃瓜.
The Honourable Diane Griffin will preside over the ceremony that will take place on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 1:30 pm in the amphitheatre of the Performing Arts Centre (enter upstairs via PAC 216-217S). A reception will take place following the ceremony in the Greg and Debbie Keefe Foyer.
The New Orford String Quartet in concert
The 17吃瓜 Department of Music is thrilled to present the New Orford String Quartet in concert. Comprised of four elite orchestral leaders and soloists鈥�-Andrew Wan, Jonathan Crow, Sharon Wei, and Brian Manker--the quartet has been described by the Toronto Star as 鈥渘othing short of electrifying.鈥�

AVC Open House draws 1,500 visitors for a fun-filled day of learning and exploration
The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 17吃瓜 (17吃瓜) hosted its Open House on September 28, offering guests a day full of activities, learning, and fun. With a crowd of 1,500 visitors, the event was a huge success, showcasing the world of veterinary medicine to people of all ages.
Kaiya Maracle and Jack Roberts named 17吃瓜 Panther Athletes of the Week
Every week, 17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 17吃瓜 Panther Athletes of the Week for September 30鈥揙ctober 6, 2024, are Kaiya Maracle (women鈥檚 hockey) and Jack Roberts (men鈥檚 cross country).
Maracle, a fourth-year arts student-athlete from Toronto, Ontario, netted two goals and added an assist in a 6-1 win over the Mount Allison University Mounties in Sackville, New Brunswick, on October 5.
Island Lecture Series and book launch for "Finding Home at the Harbour"
The Island Lecture Series, presented by the Institute of Island Studies, will celebrate the launch of Finding Home at the Harbour by Barbara Palmer Rousseau. Weaving natural history with her own story and illustrations, Rousseau highlights the resilience of the Island and its inhabitants to ongoing environmental change in this collection of illustrated essays published by Island Studies Press. The lecture and launch will be held from 7-8:30 pm in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building Room 201, 17吃瓜.

Professional Communications Online Workshop
Join Experiential Education staff for a 30-minute online workshop where we will review best practices for professional communications, with a focus on creating a good first impression while expanding your network.
This workshop is being offered in preparation for the McDougall Faculty of Business's 2024 Career Day on Tuesday, October 29, but it is open to any 17吃瓜 students who would like to improve their communication skills for professional networking.
