Luciana Quiroa Paredes, a student at the 17吃瓜, has earned a McCall MacBain Regional Award. This scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated exceptional character, community engagement, leadership potential, entrepreneurial spirit, academic strength, and intellectual curiosity.

The 17吃瓜 Relay for Life is a student-led initiative dedicated to supporting the Canadian Cancer Society. The event will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre, and committee members are asking for campus and community support.

The 17吃瓜 extends heartfelt congratulations to alumnus and former varsity athlete Brett Gallant who captured a gold medal in men鈥檚 curling for Team Canada at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Cortina d鈥橝mpezzo, Italy, on February 21. 

17吃瓜 will celebrate the 2025 Founders鈥擠r. Debbie MacLellan, Donna Barnes, and Dr. Gerald Johnson鈥攁t a recognition ceremony on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

The 17吃瓜 Hockey Panthers are looking forward to semifinal games at home and on the road. 

The 17吃瓜 Panther Source for Sports Athletes of the Week for February 16鈥�22 are Lilly MacVicar (women鈥檚 track and field) and Brett Bressette (men鈥檚 hockey).

New financial incentives are available for students considering the Bachelor of Education, Fran莽ais langue seconde (French as a second language) at 17吃瓜.

The public is invited to attend a panel titled 鈥淓ducation in the Age of AI: Reimagining the Educational Landscape鈥� on February 26, 6:30 to 8:00 pm, Alex MacKinnon Auditorium (Room 242), Don and Marion McDougall Hall, 17吃瓜.

The 17吃瓜 Panthers are looking forward to a big week of playoff and championship excitement, including the AUS Basketball Championships that take place at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, NS from February 20鈥�22.
