The L.R. Wilson Institute for Canadian History has announced its first-ever list of associates for 2017鈥�2020. Among the first cohort are two distinguished members of 17吃瓜鈥檚 Faculty of Arts: Dr. Lisa Chilton and Dr. Robert Dennis.

Cavendish Farms has announced a $2 million donation to the 17吃瓜鈥檚 School of Sustainable Design Engineering to support sustainable farming solutions in the agricultural industry.

In 2017, a new  was approved by the 17吃瓜 Board of Governors and endorsed by the University Senate. The policy and associated University Closure Procedures to help guide senior management in making decisions about storm closures and how to communicate them.

December is one of the busiest months in the academic year for students, filled with final assignments, exams, and presentations. A number of activities are being held across the campus to offer students some relief from the stress of studying and meeting deadlines.

The following statement was issued to the 17吃瓜 campus community by Dr. Alaa Abd-El-Aziz, President and Vice-Chancellor in observance of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women in Canada.

Today, December 6, is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women in Canada. Established in 1991 by the Parliament of Canada, the day marks the anniversary of the murders in 1989 of 14 young women at l'脡cole Polytechnique de Montr茅al.

Forty-eight 17吃瓜 students were recognized for effective writing skills at the sixth annual MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing celebration held in Don and Marion McDougall Hall on Friday, November 24.

Clients of AVC鈥檚 Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) got a 鈥渂ehind-the-scenes鈥� look at some of the specialty services offered by the hospital earlier this month, including dentistry, oncology, theriogenology, and CT scanner technology, during the College鈥檚 second annual Client Appreciation Reception.

Congratulations to Zoe Grutzner, AVC Animal Resources, on winning the 14th annual Lab Products Technician Award for Canada from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS). This award provides a deserving animal care technician from each of the eight AALAS districts and Canada with the opportunity to attend their first AALAS national meeting. Zoe received her award at the national AALAS meeting in Austin, Texas, in October.

After spending a month at AVC鈥檚 Veterinary Teaching Hospital, a northern saw-whet owl was released into the woods in southern Kings County in late October.

Dr. Basil Ikede, retired professor and chair, AVC Department of Pathology and Microbiology, contributed to the 11th edition of Veterinary Medicine: A Textbook of the Diseases of Cattle, Horses, Sheep, Pigs and Goats, published recently by Elsevier.
