November is Diabetes Awareness Month; almost 900 people will be diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus on PEI this year.  There are more than 15,000 Islanders living with Diabetes now.  Diabetes is a chronic condition that results from the body’s inability to produce and/or use insulin sufficiently.  In the absence of insulin or sufficient amounts of insulin, blood glucose levels rise and if left can lead to serious health issues.

The 17³Ô¹Ï Health and Wellness Centre has partnered with the Provincial Diabetes Program and is offering free glucose checks on November 22 from 09:00-11:30 am at the 17³Ô¹Ï Health and Wellness Centre. Come and have a risk assessment completed.
