We are seeking a Student Data Analyst to join our team.  This position offers an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in data analysis while contributing to important projects that support the University’s mission and strategic goals.

The ideal candidate will be skilled in analytical thinking and passionate about leveraging data to improve our University.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working alongside teams within the University to establish data project scope
  • Collect and combine data sets from multiple sources
  • Where appropriate, validate and transform resulting data sets (i.e., clean, standardize and analyze) to identify patterns, trends and inter-relationships
  • Deliver data and interpretations of the data in useful ways to users, making large and/or complex data accessible and understandable to varied audiences
  • Data visualization, where possible, to enhance usability and accessibility
  • Document sources and methodologies
  • Document data gaps and/or challenges for potential next steps

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Overall, a combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and personal qualities will be considered:

  • Enrolled in a degree program in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong ability to manage time, a number of projects and meet deadlines
  • Intermediate or advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 (i.e. particularly Excel and/or Access) 
  • Intermediate ability to visualize data using tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI or similar tools)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
