Nominations and applications are invited for a full-time position of AVC Associate Dean, Clinical Affairs. This position reports to the Dean of the college. This is a 3-year position, with yearly formative reviews by the Dean and a formal review after 2 years. It offers the possibility of renewal for an additional 3-year term. This is an internal search open only to full-time faculty of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, 17³Ô¹Ï. This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval. A stipend of $15,000 will be added to the faculty member’s salary to serve this role.

The major responsibilities of the person selected for this position include:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supported by managers of the VTH Administration, the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs has primary responsibility for leadership on all VTH matters. Specific responsibilities include:

  • To ensure the financial sustainability of the VTH in coordination with the AVC Chief of Operations, Dean, and 17³Ô¹Ï
  • Lead the strategic plan and fulfill the vision of the VTH, in alignment with the mission of the AVC
  • Supervise and manage the administrative staff of the VTH and clinical faculty (FA2)
  • Support Department Chairs with information for faculty reviews regarding professional service
  • Ensure that the VTH meets the AVMA/CVMA accreditation standards of operation and those of the PEIVMA
  • Engage with referring and local veterinarians to foster relationships and the development of external rotations
  • Collaborate with service chiefs to ensure contemporary standards of care and development of services.
  • Represent the VTH in college, on campus, and in the region.
  • This position does not have teaching and service responsibilities, except in exceptional circumstances (e.g. high-level veterinary duties such as narcotics documentation)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must hold or be eligible for general licensure by the PEIVMA, and hold a faculty appointment within the AVC at 17³Ô¹Ï
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in clinical veterinary medicine
  • Demonstrated leadership skills that include but not limited to collaboration, communication, collegiality and relationship building

ASSETS:

  • Experience in management, including supervision and mentoring of staff
  • Leadership success within an academic setting, a healthcare environment and/or a unionized workplace
