HR Manager, Faculty Relations- Faculty Relations Office - Department of Human Resources
$109,659 to $121,586 per annum
Reporting to the Director of Faculty Relations, the HR Manager of Faculty Relations is responsible for providing expert and decisive advice in support of the strategic direction of the Faculty Relations office and operational requirements in support of positive academic staff relations. Under the guidance and direction of the Director of Faculty Relations, this position will provide day-to-day management oversight and support associated with the Faculty Association collective agreements and policy administration. This includes support to academic leaders on HR related matters, including compliance of collective agreement obligations. This position is expected to monitor trends, assess risk, and identify potential changes and adjustments to 17³Ô¹Ï’s academic staff practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
In consultation with and under the general direction of the Director of Faculty Relations, the HR Manager of Faculty Relations has the following responsibilities.
- Provide expert advice and solutions-oriented guidance to Deans, Chairs and senior academic leaders on high-risk or precedent-setting faculty relations issues
- Manage and support workplace investigations ensuring compliance with human rights, duty to accommodate and collective agreement obligations related to harassment, discrimination, workplace conflict and discipline
- Support faculty collective agreements and policy administration and contribute to the development, interpretation and revisions of faculty-related policies and procedures
- Identify and address systemic issues arising from grievances or disputes
- Participate as an engaged member on labour management initiatives and collective bargaining processes
- Oversee a program for process improvement and faculty development
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent, preferably with a Human Resources, Industrial Relations or Business concentration
- A minimum of 9 years of directly related experience in labour relations and/or human resources. Experience in post-secondary institutions will be considered an asset
- Effective communication skills, demonstrated independent judgement and sound decision-making ability
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, planning, and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with diverse groups
- Supervisory experience is an asset
