Diagnostic Anatomic Pathologist - Department of Pathology and Microbiology - Atlantic Veterinary College - Eight (8) Month Full-time Term Position

The veterinary pathology team at Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), 17³Ô¹Ï, invites applicants for a contract position in domestic animal anatomic pathology. This is a full-time position for a term of 8 months, spanning May 4, 2026, to December 31, 2026.
However, these dates may be adjusted depending on the availability of the successful applicant.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities will include necropsy and biopsy duty in the AVC Diagnostic Services Laboratory, clinical teaching of necropsy techniques to senior veterinary students, and participating in the supervision of pathology residents. The clients of the AVC Diagnostic Service Laboratory include the AVC Teaching Hospital and private practitioners in the four Atlantic Canadian Provinces. The successful candidate will work with three diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP, anatomic) in our domestic animal service, which shares facilities, staff, and camaraderie with two wildlife pathologists and two aquatic pathologists. We also work closely with four clinical pathologists as well as other diagnosticians and staff in our hematology, clinical chemistry, and microbiology laboratories.
AVC is located on the campus of 17³Ô¹Ï in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island (PEI). Qualifications:
Applicants must have a DVM (or equivalent) degree, experience in diagnostic anatomic pathology, and be eligible for licensure with the Prince Edward Island Veterinary Medical Association. ACVP board certification is desired, but board-eligible individuals will be considered.
Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience. This appointment is subject to budgetary approval.
