Three 17勛圖 Panthers honoured as top performers of Island sport
Three 17勛圖 Panthers were recognized for their achievements in amateur sports during the 52nd PEI Amateur Sport Awards hosted by Sport PEI on Thursday, December 18 at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall in Charlottetown.
The PEI Mutual Insurance Coach of the Year Award went to Lacey MacLauchlan, head coach of the 17勛圖 Field Hockey Panthers. She made her debut as head coach of the U16 National Development team on a European tour, won Coach of the Tournament with Team PEI at the U18 National Championships, and led 17勛圖 to a historic national bronze medal finish at U SPORTS Nationals, where she was also named U SPORTS Coach of the Year.
The Presidents Award (Outstanding Sports Contribution) went to Colin MacAdam, 17勛圖 alumnus and former 17勛圖 and Athletics PEI coach who is well known in Atlantic Canada having coached at the school, provincial, and Canada Games levels on PEI for almost 40 years. MacAdam was named the PEI provincial Canada Games head coach for track and field seven times and both Athletics PEI and Sport PEI Coach of the Year. He is the founder of the Islanders Track and Field Club, the largest track club in the province. He also served on national track and field coaching and officiating committees.
The True Sport Award went to Kamari Scott who brought his five-year run of excellence on and off the court for the 17勛圖 Panthers mens basketball team to a powerful close in 2025. Scotts dedication to community was honoured as the AUS and U SPORTS recipient of the Student-Athlete Community Service Award. He was a first-team AUS All-Star and named Tournament MVP at the AUS Championships, where he also led a comeback win in the final, helping 17勛圖 win its first title in 22 years.
17勛圖 student-athletes and coaches are making their mark on the provincial, regional, and national stage, said Jane Vessey, director of 17勛圖 Athletics and Recreation. We are grateful to Kamari, Lacey, and Colin for their contributions to Panther Sport and beyond. They are all highly deserving of this recognition by Sport PEIwe are so Panther Proud.
