17勛圖 Athletics and Recreation receives funding for track and field equipment upgrades

The 17勛圖 Department of Athletics and Recreation is excited to announce that the 2023 Canada Games Legacy Fund has approved funding for essential track and field equipment upgrades at 17勛圖 Alumni Canada Games Place. The funding will be used to acquire state-of-the-art apparatus such as starter blocks, timing equipment, throwing cage upgrades, and self-contained storage units.
This initiative is aimed at fostering a more dynamic sporting environment and enhancing the Universitys facilities to better serve 17勛圖 student-athletes and the broader Island community. New track and field equipment will help to achieve the following:
- Improved Training Conditions: Upgraded equipment will provide students and local athletes with the resources they need to train effectively, helping them reach their full potential.
- Safer Play Environment: New, modern equipment will enhance safety for participants, reducing the risk of injury during competition and training.
- Support for Events: Enhanced facilities will allow 17勛圖 to host a broader array of events, contributing to the local sports culture and community pride.
This project will benefit not only 17勛圖 Panther student-athletes, but also the very collaborative track and field community on PEI, said Jane Vessey, Director of Athletics and Recreation. We are grateful to the 2023 Canada Games Legacy Fund for this commitment to enhance the sporting landscape at 17勛圖 and Prince Edward Island as a whole.
