Rowan Gallagher and Jahmal Boursiquot named 17吃瓜 Panther Athletes of the Week
Every week, 17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 17吃瓜 Panther Athletes of the Week for September 16鈥�22, 2024, are Rowan Gallagher (women鈥檚 rugby) and Jahmal Boursiquot (men鈥檚 soccer).
A first-year fullback and science student from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Gallagher has been one of the best rookies this season. She broke through with two tries in the Panthers鈥� 73-5 win over the Saint Mary's University Huskies on September 21.
鈥淩owan was pure class against Saint Mary鈥檚, delivering an exceptional performance that showcased her speed and finishing ability,鈥� said head coach James Voye.
Boursiquot, a first-year striker and business student from Ottawa, Ontario, broke a deadlock with a game-winning goal in the 54th minute of the Panthers鈥� 1-0 victory over the Mount Allison University Mounties on September 22.
鈥淛ahmal was a relentless threat in the games the team played last weekend against UNB and Mount Allison, consistently creating opportunities on offence,鈥� said head coach Lewis Page. 鈥淗is efforts paid off with a well-deserved winning goal against Mount Allison on Sunday.鈥�
