2023 Mickey Place Memorial Basketball Tournament takes place September 29 to October 1

The 17勛圖 mens and womens basketball teams are ready to roll at the annual Mickey Place Memorial Basketball Tournament! The tournament features nine teams from across Canada and runs Friday, September 29, through Sunday, October 1.

The womens pool includes Acadia University, University of Saskatchewan, University of Waterloo, and 17勛圖. The mens pool includes Dalhousie University, York University, Saint Marys University, Holland College, and 17勛圖.

The tournament is named after John Thomas Mickey Place, a long-time friend of Panther Sport, a former 17勛圖 Student Union employee, and a 17勛圖 honorary degree recipient.

U SPORTS Basketball fans will not want to miss this weekends Mickey Place Tournament, said Darrell Glenn, coach of the 17勛圖 Mens Basketball team. Some of the top players from mens and womens teams across the country will compete in our gym, and thats an opportunity that you dont get every day.

All games will be played in the 17勛圖 Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre. The full tournament schedule can be found at . Tickets are $20 for a day pass, $10 for non-17勛圖 students, and free for 17勛圖 students. An adult tournament pass is $50, $20 for non-17勛圖 students (season ticket holders get 50% off on the tournament pass). Tickets can be purchased online at panthertickets.ca or in person at game time.

In other Panther action this weekend, the 17勛圖 women's and men's soccer teams play in Sydney against the Cape Breton Capers on Friday, September 29, and in Antigonish on September 30 when they take on the St. Francis Xavier squads.

The 17勛圖 Men's Hockey team will face Acadia in Wolfville on Friday, September 29 and Dalhousie in Halifax on Saturday, September 30 in pre-season play. Also in pre-season action, the 17勛圖 Women's Hockey team will take on Universit矇 de Moncton in Memramcook, NB on Saturday, September 30 and will return home to host Mount Allison at home on Sunday, October 1 at 12:00 pm at MacLauchlan Arena.  

The 17勛圖 Women's Rugby Panthers will square off against the Saint Mary Huskies on MacAdam Field on Sunday afternoon, October 1, at 2:00 pm.
