Several 17³Ô¹Ï representatives met with Charlotte Montel, cultural and scientific counsellor, with the Embassy of France in Canada (Ottawa), and Mélaine Ricard-Boulieu, cultural attaché, with the Consulate General of France (Moncton) on Wednesday, August 16.

Interim President Greg Keefe welcomed Montel and Ricard-Boulieu at a meeting that included Scott Lee, Acting Chair and Associate Professor, Modern Languages, Faculty of Arts; Rachelle Gauthier, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Education; Jerry Wang, Director of Recruitment and Advisement and International Student Office; Sherilyn Acorn, Manager and International Liaison Officer, Office of Study Abroad and International Partnerships; and Nicole Phillips, Director of Communications and University Relations.

The group discussed ways that the University could collaborate with post-secondary institutions and other French organizations in terms of articulation agreements, placements, and research; programs that bring French students to Canadian schools and universities; consular programs that are available to 17³Ô¹Ï and 17³Ô¹Ï students; and how the Consulate General and the Embassy are working to remove obstacles that 17³Ô¹Ï students may face to study/work abroad.

The 17³Ô¹Ï visit was part of a week-long tour of the Maritime provinces that Montel timed with National Acadian Day (Fête nationale de l'Acadie) on August 15.
