Every week, 17吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 17吃瓜 Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for January 23鈥�30 are Aiden Rainford (women鈥檚 basketball) and Elijah Miller (men鈥檚 basketball).

Rainford, a fourth-year forward and psychology student from Toronto, Ontario, was a physical force in the paint and put up 15 points and eight rebounds in a 73-64 win over the University of New Brunswick Reds.

鈥淎iden has been finding her footing the last few weeks and really contributing on both ends of the floor,鈥� said head coach Matt Gamblin. 鈥淗er consistency, as well as that of her teammates, will be very important as we head down the stretch toward playoffs.鈥�

Miller, a third-year point guard and business student from Rexdale, Ontario, scored a team-high 19 points, including three clutch free throws in the final seconds of a low-scoring 49-48 win over the University of New Brunswick Reds. He also grabbed eight rebounds and four assists.

鈥淓lijah had another solid performance鈥攄efending, scoring, rebounding, and assisting at a high level. He also made a key three-pointer down the stretch and iced the game with must-make free throws in the final seconds of the game,鈥� said head coach Darrell Glenn.
