Every week, 17Թ Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. With no women’s games on the schedule this past week, one 17Թ Panther Subway Athlete of the Week, men’s hockey forward TJ Shea, was named for November 28–December 4.

Shea, from Tignish, PEI, continues to enjoy a breakout season. Last week, the third-year business student scored the game-winner against the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus and assisted on another. He also recorded an assist in a hard-fought game against the UNB Reds.

“TJ continued his impressive play again this week,” said head coach Forbes MacPherson. “He played a very fast and heavy game and continued to produce offensively. He was a plus player and scored the game-winner against Moncton.”

Currently sitting at $12,905, the 17Թ Panthers Gold Rush pot is the highest it has ever been. The draw takes place every Saturday at 8:00 pm. 17Թ Panthers Gold Rush is a virtual fundraising initiative that raises funds for the University’s varsity sport teams.
