Panthers at Home, October 29 to 31

This Halloween weekend will see home action every day for the 17勛圖 Panthers. Join us for a pair of games for 17勛圖 Womens Hockey and the home-openers for 17勛圖 Mens and Womens Basketball, including a championship celebration for the accomplishments of the 20192020 womens basketball team!
The action starts on Friday evening at 7 pm in the MacLauchlan Arena as 17勛圖 Womens Hockey hosts the Dalhousie Tigers.
Dal gave us all we could handle this past Friday with us winning in a shootout, said head coach Bruce Donaldson. We expect both games to be very close and competitive as both STU and DAL are playing some great hockey. We need a much more consistent effort from all our players; we have yet to play a complete 60-minute game. Our focus is to be harder to play against our opponents, take no shortcuts, and be accountable.
Basketball season officially opens on Friday at 6 pm as 17勛圖 Womens Basketball hosts Memorial University. The Panthers are the reigning AUS champions, but the team is not resting on its laurels.
We talk a lot about setting the bar ourselves, said head coach Matt Gamblin. Were not going to be reactive to other teams. We have to be the barometer.
17勛圖 Panther Athletics and the 17勛圖 Alumni Association are inviting all 17勛圖 Womens Basketball alumni to attend the game, where the AUS championship banner will be raised. There will also be a reception after the game for alumni players. There is limited space, so please RSVP to Koren Glenn at kglenn@upei.ca.
The mens basketball team hosts its home-opener at 8 pm, also playing MUN.
We have added some much-needed size and athleticism for sure, said head coach Darrell Glenn. Having bigger athletes allows you to guard multiple players affectively both inside the paint and on the perimeter. Our league is made of up very diverse players who are athletic and strong, and can score from multiple areas on the floor. If you don't have players to neutralize your opposition, then it's hard to compete.
Sunday is a rematch for both Panther basketball teams against MUN with the women playing at 1 pm and the men at 3 pm.
Visit gopanthersgo.ca for ticket information. All attendees above the age of 12 must provide proof of vaccination.
