17勛圖 Student Affairs is excited to announce that Julie Pellissier-Lush has accepted the position of coordinator for the Mawiomi Indigenous Student Centre on the 17勛圖 campus. She will be working part-time on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

An author, actor, engaged community member, educator of Mikmaq culture and heritage, and PEIs Poet Laureate, Pellissier-Lush brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position, which provides academic and personal advising and support to the Indigenous student community.

Anne Bartlett, acting director of Student Affairs, said, We look forward to having Julie share her passion and expertise with us here at 17勛圖. While she is no stranger to the campus, please join me in welcoming Julie to this role.

Working closely with 17勛圖's Elder-in-Residence, Dr. Judy Clark, Pellissier-Lush will be key in enhancing the Indigenous student experience while raising awareness of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and history for the entire campus.

It is a privilege and honour for me to be here and help our wonderful 17勛圖 students to plan, to dream and to succeed on this educational path they have chosen, said Pellissier-Lush. I hope to see everyone soon in our safe and welcoming Mawi'omi Centre located in Dalton Hall!

Pjilasi, Julie!

About the Mawiomi Indigenous Student Centre

Mawiomi is the Mikmaq word for gathering place and the Mawiomi Indigenous Student Centre offers a place for students to gather, socialize, study, and relax. The Centre also assists current and incoming Indigenous students with admission and course selection, provides access to other student services, and offers support, cultural growth, and teachings from the Elder-in-Residence. It is a home away from home for all Indigenous students.
