17³Ō¹Ļ Menās Soccer recruits Scott Davis
Lewis Page, head coach of 17³Ō¹Ļās Menās Soccer team, has recruited Scott Davis of Peterborough, Ontario, to play for the Panthers. The 18-year-old defender has family ties to the Islandāboth his maternal grandparents, Gloria Sencabaugh and Angus Moore, were born and raised here. This connection made the decision to pick 17³Ō¹Ļ an easy one.
ā17³Ō¹Ļ has always been a dream school of mine, even over top Ontario universities,ā said Davis. āWhen I received an offer from Coach Page, it was a dream come true. Theyāre giving me the opportunity to play the game I love at an amazing university while receiving a fantastic education.ā
Davis emerged as a leader and a top-tier talent at Crestwood Secondary School in Peterborough. He captained the Mustangs and guided them to second-place finishes in the Central Ontario Secondary Schools Association (COSSA) finals on two occasions.
Davis spent several years refining his skills in the Central Soccer League, where he developed into a reliable defender. In 2019, his coach recommended he try out for Peterboroughās under-21 team. It was a longshot for the 16-year-old, but he made the team and excelled.
āJoining an under-21 team at 16 helped me learn how to adapt to new positions,ā Davis explained. āWhen I first joined, I hadnāt yet proven myself, so I wasnāt playing my preferred position. This made me very versatile, and now I can play almost anywhere on the field.ā
āHeās been to PEI before and loves it here,ā said Coach Page. āWe spoke on the phone, and he described his playing environment and training habits, and we thought heād be a good fit. His experience will help him compete right away in training camp. His physical attributesāScott is 6 feet tallāwill complement our squad as well as weāve looked to add some height to the team in the last few years.ā
